Pakistan Receives Largest-Ever US Crude Oil Shipment

Pakistan has received the largest-ever US crude oil shipment to dock at a local port.

The vessel MT Pegasus, carrying one million barrels of West Texas Intermediate crude, will berth today at Cnergyico’s offshore oil terminal in Balochistan.

This marks the first-ever commercial import of US crude oil into Pakistan under the new bilateral trade framework. Industry officials are calling it a historic breakthrough for the country’s energy sector.

Cnergyico confirmed that the tanker sailed from Houston on September 14 and is now nearing its final docking point at the Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal.

The development officially opens the door for long-term crude oil trade between Islamabad and Washington.

Cnergyico previously set a national record in 2017 by handling the largest crude vessel ever received in Pakistan. The company plans to bring in a second US crude shipment in mid-November and a third consignment in 2026.

Industry officials say the move will diversify Pakistan’s energy supplies, enhance refining margins and support bilateral trade growth with the United States.

A Cnergyico spokesperson said the arrival of US crude marks “a new chapter in Pakistan-US commercial relations”.
