Discover the comprehensive list of public and optional holidays scheduled for the year 2024, as released by the Cabinet Division. The official notification, released on Wednesday, outlines 11 public holidays, kicking off with the observance of Kashmir Day on 5 February.
In addition to these public holidays, the government has designated 3 bank holidays and 22 optional holidays for the upcoming year. For Muslim festivals and occasions, dates are provisional, contingent upon the moon’s appearance, with a separate notification by the Cabinet Division as needed.

While certain days are marked as bank holidays, financial institutions will be closed to the public on these dates, but not for their employees.

Government employees seeking to take advantage of Optional Holidays must secure prior approval from the relevant Head of Office. It’s noteworthy that Muslim government servants are entitled to one optional holiday, while Non-Muslims can avail themselves of up to three optional holidays in a calendar year.
