Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans to build NEOM Stadium, marking it as the world’s first “sky stadium” to take sports to new heights.
The stadium will be suspended 1,150 feet above the ground and powered by the wind and solar energy.
Reportedly, the NEOM stadium will have a seating plan of 46,000 people.
According to reports circulating on social media, the sky stadium is expected to open around 2032 after starting the construction in 2027.
The stadium will host the 2034 FIFA World Cup matches. Saudi Arabia has submitted the bid to host the 48-team tournament.
Ultimately, Saudi Arabia’s 2034 World Cup bid was formally accepted, demonstrating the Kingdom’s alignment of tournament plans with the FIFA tournament.
However, there has been no indication of the “sky stadium” in legacy Saudi media.
In 2024, Arab News reported that Saudi Arabia took steps for remarkable transformation in sport infrastructure to fulfil its FIFA World Cup 2034 bid.
